Hello St. John’s Families!
The PTA has some exciting things coming up and I wanted to take a minute to reach out to everyone. Next Friday, October 25th, we are holding a family movie night. This will be at the St. John’s Community Center from 6-8pm. We will be screening Hotel Transylvania in the front part of the room. We want everyone to settle in for the movie that wants to, so please, feel free to bring pillows and blankets or sleeping bags. Costumes or pajamas that are appropriate are welcome, have some fun with it! In the back part of the Community Center, we will have games and activities for the kids. I can’t even begin to list all the things that have been provided so let me just say, WOW. This is going to be such a fun night for our St. John’s family. We will have some snacks, water and juice boxes and definitely popcorn for the movie!
Next, we are having the Saint Nicholas Shop this year on December 19th, after a long hiatus. This is a great way for kids to pick out gifts for their family members themselves. I have personally seen the amount of joy and pride that the kids take in picking out something for their mom or dad, even for their sister or brother! We are planning to have adults there to wrap presents for the kids as well. All items will be priced at $0.25 so that the kids feel the responsibility of purchasing the item without a large financial burden. We are looking for donations of gift wrap/bags, unused small gift items such as mugs, scarves, socks, golf balls, small picture frames, candles, face/eye masks, etc. For little kids, coloring books, crayons, books, stuffed animals, fidget toys, small games, etc. Our PTA Vice President and favorite art teacher, Jen Weiss is coordinating this. If you have anything to donate, please drop it off to Mrs. Weiss. If there are any questions, please reach out!
To those of you who know me, you know how much I love the bake sale at the Midcoast Festival of Trees! We are really looking forward to this year and outraising last year. We are giving ourselves a lofty but very attainable goal of $2,000 so we need your help! We are asking you to please consider donating some baked goods for us. We will have a Sign-Up Genius going out in the next week or so. Some of our observations from last year: Pumpkin pies sell well but basic fruit pies and chocolate cream pies also sell well! Cupcakes were a BIG hit last year and I believe that we have boxes left over for them. Feel free to think outside the box. If you have something that you make that is delicious, please, we would love to have it! We would like to have younger kids pairing with older kids to man the booth. To be honest, people would much rather donate money to cute kids than us older parents! (This will be on the Sign-up as well.)
Finally, due to a conflicting event that the Parish is hosting, we will have to move the next PTA meeting from Wednesday November 6th to Thursday November 7th at 6pm in the Community Center. All are welcome, even if you have never attended before. Please come and let us know your thoughts. You don’t need to come to every meeting to be involved. Remember, we are the Parent Teacher Association!
Thank you for being involved with our school. We have a great family here at St. Johns’s and working together, we can help to give our kids some amazing memories of their time in school! If you have any thoughts or questions, please reach out to us at pta@sjcsbme.org .
Peace,
