CubeSat Launch

Updated: May 24

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the University of Maine Lewiston Auburn Campus (51 Westminster St, Lewiston, ME), 12 teams will launch their CubeSats for the University of Southern Maine Cubesat Competition.

We are thrilled to announce that Gabriel Grondin and Wesley Agnor from St. John’s Catholic School have been approved to fly their CubeSat design! Their advisor, Karin Paquin, couldn't be prouder.

Today, Dr. Scott Eaton from USM visited St. John's and conducted a series of flight readiness tests, including a pressure test, mass measurement, and a 3-foot drop test. The boys were ecstatic to receive the all-clear for launch on Saturday, using a high-altitude balloon.

This launch is a significant milestone for Gabe and Wesley, giving them the chance to retrieve data and enter the final judging phase of the contest.

Let's cheer them on as they take their project to new heights!  #CubeSatLaunch #STEM #StudentInnovation #ProudMoment #GoStJohns
